“In one of the most notable moments in sports history, Kenyan runner Abel Mutai was just a few feet from the finish line, but became confused with the signage and stopped thinking he had completed the race.

 A Spanish athlete, Ivan Fernandez, was right behind him, and after realizing what was happening, he started shouting at the Kenyan for him to continue running; but Mutai didn’t understand his Spanish. Fernandez eventually caught up to him and instead of passing him, he pushed him to victory.

A journalist asked Ivan, “Why did you do that?”

Ivan replied, “My dream is that someday we can have a kind of community life where we push and help each other to win.”

The journalist insisted “But why did you let the Kenyan win?“ Ivan replied, "I didn’t let him win, he was going to win.” The journalist insisted again, “But you could have won!”

dare i say a very iconic zewis moment

i am honestly soooo curious as to what lewis did with zane after rikki nearly burned him alive like did he dump him at the local hospital?? did he go in with him and lie to all the hospital staff about the nature of his injuries?? did he bring him back to his mum’s place and slather him with aloe vera?? or did he bring him to his own place in the hopes that his dad wouldn’t be suspish that his son is practically burned to a crisp @ jonathan shiff we need answers

to start, i love the implication lewis has a degree of medical knowledge because he’s seemingly shown to 1) jaw thrust in first photo and 2) check for breathing in the medically correct way. but like

zane would have absolutely had to go to the hospital because he is hyperthermic and likely on the cusp of heat stroke, which is extremely lethal. it’s downplayed because it’s a kid show obviously but realistically nothing short of a fully stocked (american) ambulance would’ve saved zane’s life here. he needed immediate IV fluids and total body cooling. he would’ve been in the hospital at least 48 hours, potentially longer for observation to check for any permanent damage.

tl;dr lewis is a smart cookie and definitely would’ve taken zane to the nearest emergency department
